Meet the Crew

• 

  George Galante

  Vice President of Communications and Alumni Relations

  George Galante begins his 29th season with the organization and was promoted to vice president of communications and alumni relations in July 2023.

  Galante supports all areas of the communications department, including serving as managing editor of all media guides, compiling game notes, coordinating interview requests with players and front office personnel, writing press releases, maintaining statistical information and traveling on the road with the team.

  Galante also helps to oversee the Orlando Magic Alumni Network, which enhances the organization’s relationship with former players, while re-engaging them in the community through appearances at games, camps, fundraisers and other events.

  In addition, Galante serves as co-host of the team’s official podcast,The Orlando Magic Pod Squad. He was co-host of Magic Overtime with Dante and Galante, the team’s weekly television show that profiled Magic players and personalities, from 2008-12, as well as various other programs which were found on the Orlando Magic’s social media accounts.

  Following an internship with the Magic during their run to the 1995 NBA Finals, Galante joined the organization full-time in August of 1995, spending four seasons as public relations manager for the Orlando Solar Bears of the International Hockey League (1995-99). While with the Solar Bears, he also served as chairman of the IHL’s Public Relations Advisory Board. Galante was named assistant director of communications for the Magic in 1999, promoted to director of communications in 2007, then named senior director of communications in 2019.

  Galante earned a bachelor’s degree in sports administration from Stetson University in 1996, where he was a student assistant in the sports information department. He assumed SID duties for women’s soccer and cross country and also spent one summer as assistant director of public relations for Daytona Beach of the United States Basketball League.

  A native of Staten Island, N.Y., Galante and his wife, Laura, reside in Apopka, Fla. with their sons, John (18) and Jim (16), and daughter, Kate (14).

  David Steele

  Television Play-By-Play

  David Steele returns for his 35th season of Orlando Magic basketball, and his 26th as the television play-by-play announcer, calling the action for Bally Sports Florida. He was named television play-by-play voice for the Magic in March 1998 after handling radio play-by-play duties for the team’s first nine seasons.

  The former voice of the University of Florida, Steele arrived in Orlando in 1989 after serving as network coordinator and football/basketball play-by-play announcer for the Gators for seven seasons.

  One of the premier broadcasters in the industry, Steele has been named Florida Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sports Media Association twice, winning the honor in both 2009 and 2021.

  In 1980, Steele earned the Ray Reeve Award as TV Sportscaster of the Year in North Carolina. He also won the Best Play-By-Play in Florida award from the Florida Sportscasters Association in 1984. Then in February 2019, Steele was the eighth person inducted into the Orlando Magic Hall of Fame.

  A native of Jacksonville, Fla., Steele’s professional broadcasting career began in 1975, as sports director at WJHG-TV in Panama City, Fla. He also served as sports director at WLOS-TV in Asheville, NC, and was the football/basketball play-by-play announcer at Western Carolina University.

  Steele has also served as a past president of the Florida Sportscasters Association. He and his wife, Sally, reside in Orlando. They have three children, Luke, Emily and Betsy, and eight grandchildren.

  Jeff Turner

  Television Color Analyst

  NBA veteran Jeff Turner returns for his 11th season as Orlando's television color analyst. He joins David Steele to call the action on Bally Sports Florida.

  Turner made his Magic broadcasting debut in April 1996 as radio color analyst on the Magic Radio Network and spent nine full seasons in that role from 1996-2005. He also spent parts of two seasons (2011-13) as studio host. Turner also serves as co-host of the team's official podcast, The Orlando Magic Pod Squad.

  During the spring of 2005, Turner was named leadership development coordinator at Lake Highland Preparatory School in Orlando. In addition, he served as the school's head varsity basketball coach for eight seasons (2005-13), compiling a record of 151-72 (.677). Turner led the program to a district title in 2010-11 and a runner-up finish for the Class 4A state crown in 2011-12, before guiding the Highlanders to the Florida Class 4A State Championship in 2012-13.

  Originally selected in the first round (17th overall) by New Jersey in the 1984 NBA Draft, Turner appeared in 612 NBA regular season games during his career with New Jersey and Orlando, averaging 6.0 ppg. and 3.3 rpg. After spending three seasons with the Nets and two years in the Italian Basketball League (1987-89), Turner became a member of Orlando's inaugural squad in 1989. In 411 games (176 starts) with the Magic, he averaged 6.5 ppg. and 3.6 rpg., and helped them reach the 1995 NBA Finals. Turner, who retired in March of 1996, still ranks among Orlando's all-time leaders in games played (tied for ninth).

  A graduate of Vanderbilt, Turner was an All-SEC First Team selection as a senior (1984) and a two-time All-SEC Academic selection (1983-84). He was a member of the 1984 Olympic Gold Medal basketball team.

  Turner and his wife, Dee Dee, have two daughters, Allie and Emma.

  Dante Marchitelli

  Television Studio Host/
  Sideline Reporter

  Dante Marchitelli enters his 25th season with the Orlando Magic. He serves as studio host/sideline reporter for Bally Sports Florida.

  Marchitelli began his career with the Magic in 1998 as a radio intern. He was hired full-time in January 2000 as radio producer, working behind the scenes on every broadcast for the Magic Radio Network. Marchitelli was promoted in 2005 to radio manager and also served as radio sideline reporter. His role was expanded in 2008 to television as pre-game host and sideline reporter. Marchitelli was named assistant director of broadcasting in July 2017, then promoted to director of broadcasting and alumni relations in July 2023.

  In addition to his game-day duties, Marchitelli serves as host of Magic Drive Time, which airs Monday-Friday from 6-6:30 p.m. on 96.9 The Game throughout the NBA season. Each day, Marchitelli is joined by a rotation of special guests, including Magic/NBA players, broadcasters, front office personnel and more. He also serves as co-host of the team’s official podcast, The Orlando Magic Pod Squad. Marchitelli was also co-host of Magic Overtime with Dante and Galante, the team’s weekly television show that profiled Magic players and personalities, from 2008-12, as well as various other programs which were found on the Orlando Magic’s social media accounts.

  Marchitelli also helps to oversee the Orlando Magic Alumni Network. The Orlando Magic Alumni Network enhances the organization’s relationship with former players, while re-engaging them in the community through appearances at games, camps, fundraisers and other events.

  Marchitelli earned a bachelor’s degree in public relations/advertising from Liberty University in 1998.

  A native of Woburn, Mass., Marchitelli and his wife, Lana, reside in Windermere, Fla. with their daughters, Olivia (10) and Allison (9).

  Brian Hill

  Television Pregame/
  Postgame Analyst

  Brian Hill returns for his 11th season as pregame/postgame analyst for Orlando Magic games on Bally Sports Florida.

  Hill served as head coach of the Orlando Magic from 1993-97 and again from 2005-07, compiling a record of 267-192 (.582). His 267 wins are the most by any head coach in franchise history. Hill also currently serves as an executive advisor to the Magic’s basketball operations department, a position he has held since 2018.

  To honor all of his accomplishments with the organization, Hill was inducted into the Orlando Magic Hall of Fame in March 2022.

  Hill’s extensive coaching resume spans 45 years. His NBA career began in Atlanta in 1986, serving as an assistant coach under Mike Fratello. After four seasons with the Hawks, Hill joined the Magic in 1990 as an assistant coach to Matt Guokas. He was promoted to head coach on June 30, 1993 and the impact on the team was immediate.

  During Hill’s time as head coach of the Magic, Orlando reached the playoffs four times, including the first postseason berth in franchise history (1993-94), captured two division titles (1994-95, 1995-96), made two Eastern Conference Finals appearances (1995, 1996) and earned a trip to the 1995 NBA Finals. He guided the team to a franchise-record 60 wins during the 1995-96 season, a record that still stands today. From March 21, 1995 to March 19, 1996, Hill also led the Magic to 40 consecutive wins at home, which set an NBA record. He was named NBA’s Eastern Conference Coach of the Month in November 2006 and was head coach of the Eastern Conference at the 1995 NBA All-Star Game.

  From 1997-99, Hill was head coach of the Vancouver Grizzlies for two-plus seasons. He has an overall NBA head coaching record of 298-315 (.486). Hill also served an assistant coach in the NBA with New Orleans, New Jersey and Detroit.

  Hill’s coaching career also includes high school and 14 years at the collegiate level. He began as an assistant at Montclair State (NJ) in 1972 and held assistant coaching positions at Lehigh University and Penn State. Hill served as head coach at Lehigh for eight seasons from 1975-83.

  Hill and his wife, Kay, have two children, Kimberly and Christopher. The Hill family has been active in hosting fundraising events for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. In March 2006, the Hills were honored with the prestigious Jefferson Awards for Public Service, which were established in 1972 by Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, U.S. Senator Robert Taft, Jr. and Sam Bears to create a Nobel prize for public and community service.

  Quentin Richardson

  Television Studio Analyst

  Quentin Richardson begins his fifth season as studio analyst for select Orlando Magic games on Bally Sports Florida.

  Originally selected in the first round (18th overall) by the L.A. Clippers in the 2000 NBA Draft, Richardson spent 13 seasons in the NBA. He appeared in 783 career NBA regular season games with the L.A. Clippers, Phoenix, New York, Miami and Orlando, averaging 10.3 ppg., 4.7 rpg. and 1.5 apg. in 26.5 minpg., while shooting .355 (1,167-3,288) from three-point range. Richardson has also played in 36 career NBA playoff outings and captured the NBA Three-Point Contest championship in 2005.

  Richardson played in 105 regular season games (22 starts) during two seasons with the Magic (2010-12).

  Following his playing career, Richardson spent two seasons (2014-16) as director of player development and two seasons (2016-18) as a pro scout with the Detroit Pistons. He has served as studio analyst on NBA TV and currently hosts the popular Knuckleheads podcast on The Players’ Tribune along with former teammate Darius Miles.

  A native of Chicago, Illinois, he and his wife, Miya, have four children: sons, Kaelib, Quentin Jr. and Cruz, and daughter, Mackenzie.

  Kendra Douglas

  Team Reporter

  Kendra Douglas begins her first season with the Orlando Magic as team reporter. She will serve as sideline reporter for select Bally Sports Florida telecasts, as well as correspondent for the team’s social media channels.

  A two-time Edward R. Murrow Award winner, sports anchor and reporter, Douglas spent three years (2020-23) as a sports anchor and reporter at WESH 2 News (WESH-TV NBC) in Orlando. In addition to covering the Magic while at WESH, she covered the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during the team’s Super Bowl run in 2021, as well as the Tampa Bay Rays, both the NWSL and MLS, and a range of other teams in Central Florida. Douglas won an Edward R. Murrow regional award for her story on former NFL player “HaHa” Clinton-Dix, sharing how the town of Eatonville helped shape him into the person he is today.

  Before coming to Florida, Douglas spent nearly two years (2018-20) as a sports anchor and reporter at KSN News 3 in Wichita, Kansas. While at KSN, she covered many teams and stories, including the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl run in 2020, as well as the story of a Wichita State track athlete’s return to competition after almost losing his life in a house fire. Douglas was part of the sports team that won a KABJ first place award for its Friday Football Fever show.

  Prior to covering sports in Wichita, Douglas worked in Wilmington, North Carolina. She also interned as a flash quote reporter for the Olympic News Service, interviewing archery and track athletes at the Rio Olympic Games during the summer of 2016.

  Her honors also include an NABJ award for sports reporting.

  Douglas is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, receiving a bachelor of arts degree in media and journalism, with a concentration in broadcast and electronic journalism. While at UNC, she was a member of the track team and competed in the 400-meter race at the ACC Tournament. Douglas is a member of the Junior League of Orlando, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. and a Cure Bowl Ambassador.

  Jake Chapman

  Radio Producer/Play-By-Play Announcer

  Jake Chapman enters his 11th season with the Orlando Magic, 10th as radio producer and second as radio play-by-play announcer. You can hear Chapman call all of the action on 96.9 The Game and the Magic Radio Network.

  This marks Chapman’s 15th season covering the NBA. In addition to his play-by-play duties, he also serves as the radio producer, pregame and postgame radio host for the Magic Radio Network.

  Chapman began his career with the Magic in 2006 as a radio intern. He became the Magic’s radio producer in 2009 and served in that role until 2014. During Chapman’s first stint as radio producer, he produced Eastern Conference Finals game broadcasts, oversaw the launch of the Magic’s daily radio show,Magic Drive Time hosted by Dante Marchitelli, built up Magic Radio’s social media presence and helped with the digitization process of Magic Radio’s studio operations. He left the Magic in 2014 to become the pre and postgame host and executive producer of the Detroit Pistons Radio Network. After his stay in Detroit, Chapman worked in his native Cleveland, OH as a producer and host for 92.3 The Fan and the Cleveland Browns Radio Network. He also covered the Cleveland Cavaliers’ 2018 trip to the NBA Finals.

  When Chapman returned to the Magic in 2019, he worked to expand the Magic’s podcast offerings - the Orlando Magic Audio Network. He continued producing all Magic radio broadcasts while adding pre-and post-game hosting responsibilities for all games. Chapman also re-assumed producing and co-hosting duties for Magic Drive Time hosted by Dante Marchitelli, the Magic’s daily radio show on its flagship station, 96.9 The Game.

  A native of Cleveland, Oh., Chapman earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the Ohio State University in 2006. He currently lives in Apopka, Fla., and has a daughter, Josie (born May 2023).
